Thermaltake Level 10 GT
For those of you who like big, ‘look at me’ PC cases, your eye might have been caught in 2010 by the Thermaltake Level 10 which was co-designed by BMW DesignworksUSA. At $1,499 NZD it was eye-wateringly expensive, but damn did it look cool. In 2011 Thermaltake offered a cut-price version of that case in the form of the Level 10 GT.

- Cheaper version of Thermaltake’s Level 10 case
- Individually removable hard drive bays
- Excellent cooling and cable management options
A big, beautiful and functional case which provides a nice change from featureless black boxes.
For those of you who like big, ‘look at me’ PC cases, your eye might have been caught last year by the Thermaltake Level 10 which was co-designed by BMW DesignworksUSA. At $1,499 NZD it was eye-wateringly expensive, but damn did it look cool.
This year Thermaltake has offered a cut-price version of that case in the form of the Level 10 GT. The main difference between the two is that the original model was constructed almost entirely of aluminium, whereas the GT version is mainly plastic with an aluminium skeleton. The original styling has been mostly maintained however.
The Level 10 GT still gets by on its own merits – open the side door on its hinges and you’re presented a cavernous interior with excellent cable management options.
My favourite feature would have to be the hard drive bays. Each bay ca be removed individually without even having to open the side door or even unplug anything: there are pre-mounted SATA and power connections that line up with every slide-out hard drive bay (it also comes with a set of keys to lock these bays down).
Cooling is also excellent with front and side 200mm intake fans, plus a top 200mmm exhaust and rear 140mm fan. Underneath the USB 3.0 and eSATA ports on the top panel are buttons to toggle fan speed and LED lighting.
If you were taken by the design of the original Level 10 case but didn’t have the trustfund to finance it, the Level 10 GT will certainly appeal to you at a third of the price.
