Sound Blaster World of Warcraft Headset
If you want a headset that’s got style, this is it. While this headset has World of Warcraft in the name, the elements of the popular MMO are subtle enough in the design that if you’re not a fan of the game, it doesn’t matter.

This headset is stylish and plays decent audio, but has a little too much clamping power.
If you want a headset that’s got style, this is it. While this headset has World of Warcraft in the name, the elements of the popular MMO are subtle enough in the design that if you’re not a fan of the game, it doesn’t matter. When you plug the headset in – via a wired connection – the ear cups, which have a lion insignia on them, light up red and gradually change to almost all the colours of the rainbow. It’s an extremely cool effect.
The build quality of the Sound Blaster headset is fairly solid, although not quite up to Sennheiser standards – but then, Creative is only asking two thirds of the price. The device comes with a detachable microphone – always handy as long as you don’t lose it – and the sound quality is very good. Not as good as Logitech’s G930, perhaps, and there’s no virtual surround sound, but the bass certainly thumps.
The main problem with the World of Warcraft headset is the fact that it’s so darn heavy. Between the weight and the slightly-too-strong clamping power, the headset wasn’t always as comfortable to wear as some of the others I’ve tested. Still, when properly adjusted and sitting on my head further back than usual, I managed to wear it for considerable lengths of time without serious issues.
If you’re looking for a mid to high-end headset but $350-$400 is a little steep for you, Creative’s offering might be right up your alley. If you actually play WoW, though, and you're likely to be embarking on all-night gaming binges, just keep in mind that your head might need a break from the clamp every couple of hours.
