The Nintendo 3DS XL is on sale in New Zealand today.

The handheld 3D console is a larger, upgraded version of the 3DS, which released in March of last year. It has a bigger screen, at 4.88 inches compared to the previous model's 4.18in, and battery life is significantly improved.

The 3DS XL is also heavier, at 336 grams compared to the 3DS's 235 grams, and has more storage space on board - it comes with 4GB of storage instead of 2GB.

The 3DS XL was announced shortly after E3 in June, and first released in Japan in July.

The device retails for $348 at EB Games, and $329 at Mighty Ape.
