App review: Fart Cat
It's a little silly, a little puerile, and very noisy - Fart Cat has been out less than a week, but it's taken the app store by storm.

Fart Cat is a very grouchy cat. A cat that wants to be left alone by everyone.
Question: what's such a cat to do when they have an affectionate owner that wants to pat and hug and love them?
Answer: fart. A lot. Enough to drive the owner away.
You assist in that process by feeding Fart Cat some very stinky foods - fish heads, pancakes, fishy cat food, stinky cheese and (of course) cheeseburgers. You have to feed him a certain number of the food he wants - he's picky - from the five bowls in front of him. Run out of his preferred food? Just tap his belly. He'll let out a little toot, and the foods on the bowls will refresh.
While you're feeding him, his owners hand starts to approach from the right hand side. You have to provide him with enough of his preferred food before the owners hand touches him, or he'll be petted, and you'll lose the game.
Once you've fed him enough of his preferred food? You can tap his belly and he'll let loose a fog-horn level fart that clears the entire room of items.
Yes, that really is how the game works.
The principle of the game is very simple, and reminiscent of Adult Swim's similarly silly Velocirapture game.
There are a few tricks to completing levels. Fast finger-flicking and pattern matching to ensure you provide the right foods is essential. You lose points and valuable time if you feed him the wrong food, but you also lose points if you refresh the bowls when there's something he wants still in one of them.
We did mention he was picky, right?
Finally, golden mice add a bonus to your score. You can always feed him golden mice, no matter what food Fart Cat currently desiries, so catch them all.
The foghorn noises got to us after a while, but it's silly fun, and will keep younger players amused with its noises and fart humour.
