Yahoo's Mayer crowdsources suggestions for baby's name

Yahoo's new CEO -- who also happens to be a new mum -- seems to be embracing the social aspect of her life, both professionally and personally. She's reportedly crowdsourcing the name of her newborn son.

Blogger Jeff Jarvis, who is also a professor at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism and founding editor of Entertainment Weekly, spilled the news via his Twitter account, telling the world that he had just received an email from Marissa Mayer asking the "large crowd" of email recipients for suggestions of names for the newest member of Mayer's family, who was born Sunday night.
Jarvis followed up the tweet almost immediately with another, saying "Just to be clear, @marissamayer says she'll take suggestions for a name. Nobody suggest Yahoo, now!"

The yet-to-be-named baby's short life has already been a buzz on Twitter. The news of his birth was broken on Twitter via Mayer's husband, Zachary Bogue, Sunday night.

The Twitter-sphere has been fairly quiet as to suggested names for Mayer's son. Douglas and Michael (Mickey for short) were offered up and, unsurprisingly, @nameberry, a baby-naming website, offered up its services to Mayer's family. Until a name is chosen, the newborn seems to be being commonly referred to on Twitter as "Baby Boy Bogue," a reference to the father's name.

Mayer ascended to the top job at Yahoo in July after a 13-year career at Google. She has vowed to return to work at the struggling Web giant within one to two weeks of having her baby. First though, apparently she's working on a name for her son.
