Value of PlayStation Plus 30 times what it was at inception, PlayStation NZ says

The paid version of PlayStation's online gaming service, PlayStation Plus, is now worth about 30 times the value it was when it was first launched, according to SCE NZ.

The paid version of PlayStation's online gaming service, PlayStation Plus, is now worth about 30 times the value it was when it was first launched, according to SCE NZ.

The company's sales and marketing director, David Hine, said the value of the service had increased significantly since Gamescom earlier this year, when the company added 1GB of cloud storage and Rockstar's hit game Red Dead Redemption to its offering.

The service also has the likes of Borderlands in its 'instant game collection', as well as Just Cause 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and inFamous 2.

“As soon as you sign up, whether it’s a 90-day membership or a year membership, you get a choice of 10 games [free]. And then over the year you can get 45 others," Hine said.

"In fact, if you look at the value of what you get when you total up the discounts and the freebies and everything, it’s around $1,400 worth of value."

A 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription costs around $90.

Hine also hinted at a beta that would be available in early 2013 that consumers were going to be "amping for". (PC World predicts this is BioShock Infinite, which comes out late February and will be playable on the PS Vita.)

There is an announcement regarding extra PlayStation Plus feature for Vita owners coming "shortly".

better news i like that you only sign up once and it includes both ps3 and vita membership.
i would like to see better information though..
where do i see a list of all the available games and discounts?
on the vita i had to go through every a-z menu of every category to see everything
to find out there was just one psp title available
i know vita side of plus hasn't officially launched but it's still a part of it
and i'm sure it will have more offerings and better functionality and news when it does
but right now how do i see what is available without manually scrolling through everything on the store?

Plus is Amazing! PS Plus is totally worth your money! Show me any other deal where you get $1400.00 worth of free stuff. I love PS Plus, I will definatley continue to stay a member, I recommend it to everyone, and I would pay more for it if I had to.

Some corrections. It only costs $50 for twelve months of PS+ and Bioshock Infinite will not be playable on the Vita. Instead, Irrational is making a Vita-exclusive Bioshock game, in fact I'm kinda expecting a new System Shock title exclusively on the system.
