Steam Summer Sale Day 4: Which games should you buy?

We check out today's bargains, just in case you haven't blown your budget already.

Remember, don't buy any single games until the final day of the sale, unless it's a daily deal - they just might get discounted the following day.

Daily Deals

Hitman: Blood Money - If you can get a Hitman game for US$2.49 (NZ$3.10), can you really afford not to? Get your sneak on as a stealthy assassin, Agent 47. It's not the best game in the Hitman series, but you're not going to regret it at this price. You can also get the Hitman collection, which includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Codename 47 for US$6.24 (NZ$7.80).

The Darkness II - I loved The Darkness II. Play as mobster Jackie Estacado, who has inherited some dark and terrible powers from his father that allow him to be the top dog in town. The campaign is short, but there's online co-op to get through once you're done, and New Game+. It's still a bit pricey - relative to other Steam sales, anyway - at US$22.49 (NZ$28.20).

Trine 2 - Trine 2 was a flash sale over the weekend, and if you didn't pick it up then, here you have another chance. It's a sidescrolling fantasy platformer with all kinds of puzzles, and has been well received critically. You can grab it today for only US$3.74 (NZ$4.70).

The Walking Dead - The Walking Dead is an adventure game by Telltale Games, and despite the fact that Telltale has a very hit-or-miss reputation, this one's a hit and a home run. The game is based on the Walking Dead comic books and illustrated in comic book style, but more importantly, it makes you think really hard about the difficult decisions you'll make during the course of your game. And in the end, none of the decisions will make you feel like you've done the right thing. It's almost brand new - three of the five episodes aren't even out yet - and down 40% from US$24.99 to US$14.99 (NZ$18.80).

Yesterday's deals

Valve have tacked a few extra hours onto yesterday's deals in order to keep offering them to you today. Since there was no PC World roundup over the weekend, we'll let you know which of yesterday's deals you should snag while you have the chance, too.

Borderlands - Borderlands is a first-person shooter with RPG elements, and will give you many, many hours of play time, especially when you tally up all the DLC, much of which is fantastic. You play as one of four treasure hunters - and can play up to four-player co-op - trying to find something called The Vault, which is said to contain a sweet, sweet bounty. If you buy it now, you'll probably manage to finish it before Borderlands 2 comes out in September. It costs US$7.49 (NZ$9.40) for the Game of the Year edition, with all the DLC included. Want to play with four friends? Buy a four-pack for US$22.48 (NZ$28.20).

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Does this game really need an introduction? It's safe to say that fantasy RPG Skyrim was a massive hit last year, winning many, many Game of the Year awards. Dawnguard DLC is coming out shortly on PC, so when you get done with the main game there'll be more to play. Grab it for US$49.99 (NZ$62.60) - it's still pricey, but it won't be cheaper than this for a long while.
