Quickflix comes to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch
Movie and TV streaming service Quickflix is now available for iOS devices, including modern versions of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Siobhan Keogh | Monday, May 21 2012Movie and TV streaming service Quickflix is now available for iOS devices, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
The Quickflix app also allows non-subscribers to view new movie trailers, entertainment news and other video.
The app requires iOS 4.2 or later and is available from the App Store.
“We are extremely excited to expand our digital services and give our customers even more ways to view their favourite movies and TV shows, whenever they want and wherever they are," Quickflix chief executive Chris Taylor and executive chairman Stephen Langsford said in a joint statement.
PC World tested the iOS app on an iPad 2, and found picture quality to be an improvement compared to the browser-based video player. However, the iOS version does not appear to have any video content available in HD.
Quickflix launched in March, but had a very limited catalogue and was only available on a handful of devices. The company has also announced it will soon bring its service to the Xbox 360.
Getting started
To sign up with Quickflix, follow our getting started guide.
To get started with Quickflix for iOS, you'll have to sign up for the service on the web. Once you've got an account, however, you can download the Quickflix app from Apple's App Store. You'll see several 'tabs' along the bottom of the app, from 'Home' to 'Settings' (see the image below). To sign into the app, you'll have to go into the Settings tab and hit 'Account'.
Once you're signed in, you can use the tabs to browse movies or TV shows, and break them down by genre. Alternatively, if you're looking for something specific you can use the 'Search' tab.
