Zara Baxter | Thursday, May 10 2012 | 2 CommentsHP has promised that it's new range of laptops and desktops, announced in Shanghai yesterday, will be entirely free of 'crapware'.
HP clarified further, saying that there will be no trial ware, no malware and no crapware on the systems.
HP's new range of Pavilion, ProBook, Envy and EliteBook laptops, as well as desktops, will all come without the usual array of demo, trial and limited-feature software that comes on new computers. The reduction in nagging pop-up notifications was, said HP, one of the most requested features from users.
HP said that some product ranges would get full versions of Adobe software and premium models, like the Envy and Envy Spectre XT, would get two year-subscriptions to antivirus software.
Vendors usually shy away from the 'crapware' tag to describe the preinstalled trialware on new computers, but HP has embraced the term now that it's ready to abandon crapware.
The first models to be crapware-free will be launched around June and July in New Zealand, and will feature Intel's third generation Core 'Ivy Bridge' processors.
