Kiwi game studio nominated for BAFTA

Wellington-based game developer PikPok has been nominated in the 'Mobile & Handheld' category of the BAFTA awards.

Wellington-based game developer PikPok has been nominated in the 'Mobile & Handheld' category of the BAFTA awards.

The company's hit mobile game Super Monsters Ate My Condo has tough competition - it will compete against Little Big Planet for Vita, The Room for iOS, New Star Soccer, Incoboto and critically acclaimed title The Walking Dead.

Super Monsters Ate My Condo is the sequel to Monsters Ate My Condo, which we reviewed in June of last year.

BAFTA stands for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, but the organisation has also given awards for video games since 1998.

We've reached out to a representative from PikPok and will update this story when we have more news.

This story originally said that the BAFTAs had recognised video games since 2007. This was incorrect. While the BAFTA website only shows a history of video game awards from 2007 onward, the organisation has recognised video games since 1998. - Ed

You kidding!? Wholly snap! Monsters ate my condo is from a NZ developer? That game was crazy, so crazy it seemed like it was just out of a Japanese dev company! Haha that's mad!
