iPad goes on sale - plenty of stock!

Queues for the new iPad aren't huge, so if you want to buy today, you should be in luck.

Around 40 people waited in line at YooBee Newmarket, in Auckland, for the New Zealand launch of the iPad at 8am this morning. For last year's iPad launch, the queue was closer to 200 people.

The queue at Britomart Yoobee, in the centre of Auckland was smaller, and our "regional reporter" James Sugrue (@kiwibastard), was the only person in line at Noel Leeming Timaru. Initial reports suggest good stocks in Hamilton, as well.

The iPad is stocked by several outlets, including Noel Leeming, YooBee, Harvey Norman and online at Apple's store.

Prices for the new iPad start at $729 for the 16GB wi-fi version, up to $1228 for the 64GB 3G+Wi-Fi version.

Wi-FiWi-Fi + 4G/3G
16GB$729$929
32GB$879$1079
64GB$1029$1228

We anticipate that if you plan to purchase a new iPad today, anywhere except YooBee Newmarket will definitely have stock. Yoobee had stock at 9am, but had the busiest crowd of buyers.

If you have pictures or reports from elsewhere in New Zealand, drop a note in the comments.
