Google has sent out invitations for an Android event to be held on 29 October.

The rumours that Google will announce a new Nexus device on 29 October have been confirmed. The search giant has invited members of the press to attend the 'Android event' in New York where the 'playground is open'.

It is expected that Google will talk about version 4.2 Jelly Bean of Android rather than announcing 5.0 Key Lime Pie so soon after the Nexus 7 which introduced 4.1 Jelly Bean. The event coincides with the launch of Microsoft's rival Windows Phone 8 operating system.

The Nexus device, most likely a smartphone, which will be revealed is a bigger uncertainty. This is because multiple handsets have been leaked recently including the Sony Nexus X and the LG Optimus G Nexus or Nexus 4. Maybe Google will unveil both.

It's also likely that Google will announce the 32GB model of its Nexus 7 tablet which Argos leaked by way of its Christmas gift guide this week.

We can only guess but rest assured we will bring you all the news on 29 October. Image courtesy of Android Police.
