Aucklanders: Armageddon is coming!
Gamers, cosplayers, anime and manga fans, collectors and science fiction and fantasy fans will all find something awesome at Armageddon
PC World Staff | Friday, September 14 2012New Zealand's biggest pop culture and gaming event, the Armageddon Expo, comes to the ASB showgrounds from Friday October 19th to Monday October 22nd.
Nintendo fans will be as hyped as we are about the voice of Mario and Luigi himself, Charles Martinet, being at the event, but there's plenty more for science fiction fans, anime and manga fans, collectors and gamers.
As well as big names, huge exhibitors and the biggest display of costumed cult-fans to gather in one place, events will keep things pumping throughout the entire weekend.
Last year, 44,000 attended, and this year promises to be huge. You can get more information at www.armageddonexpo.com/nz and tickets from www.iticket.co.nz (or at the event itself).
...and of course the PC Worldteam will be there - we're pretty geeky. Heck, if you can find us among the crowds, we'd probably even sign something.
For science fiction and fantasy fans:
A massive range of celebrity guests will be there to sign photos: the legendary Terry Molloy from the Classic Doctor Who series will be there, along with New Zealand’s favourite movie star Temuera Morrison of Green Lantern, Once Were Warriors and Star Wars Episode 2 fame.
From Game of Thrones, aucklanders will have the pleasure of seeing Finn Jones and Miltos Yerelemou.
For Babylon 5 fans, Mira Furlan (also of Lost fame), Patricia Tallman, Bruce Boxleitner (he was in Tron, too) and the show’s creator himself, J. Michael Straczynski will be heading to the ASB Showgrounds.
Other attendees include
- Jim Beaver (Supernatural and Deadwood)
- Aldis Hodge (Leverage, Supernatural)
- Aron Eisenberg (Star Trek Deep Space Nine)
- Sebastian Roché (Supernatural, Fringe, Vampire Diaries)
- Sandahl Bergman (Conan the Barbarian)
- Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural, Lost, Being Human, Dexter)
- Cindy Morgan (Tron, Caddy Shack)
- Christopher Judge (Stargate SG1)
- Christopher Heyerdahl (Twilight, True Blood, Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis)
For Manga and Comic fans:
Mela Lee of Vampire Night fame as well as Anime director Kristi Reed will make an appearance.
Regardless of animation preferences, Armageddon will not disappoint this year with celebrity voice over guests Johnny Yong Bosch (Trigun, Bleach), Martin Billany (Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman), and Yaya Han, the international Cosplay superstar, will be there too!
The Green Arrow mastermind Harvey Tolibao, comic legend Bob Layton (Marvel Comics, Iron Man, Hercules, X-Factor) and Ian Churchill, the artist responsible for the visual masterpieces Hulk, Superman and Titans will all be there, too.
Gamers:
Alienware, the Activision Blizzard Stand, Halo 4, the PlayStation Mega Stand, Adversary Gaming, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Medal of Honor Warfighter and FIFA 13 will fill the weekend with action!
